Heritage Radio Scholars offers high school students the opportunity to learn audio reporting techniques from conducting interviews and connecting with industry professionals, to learning script writing and how to use audio equipment. The program empowers young learners to become the next generation of food leaders, while honing their skills in storytelling and audio production. Heritage Radio Network collaborated with the Food Education Fund and Pass the Spatula to create The Pass the Spatula Podcast.
Pass the Spatula is a student-run, food-based magazine made by students working with the Food Education Fund in New York City. The magazine features creative recipes, interviews with famous chefs, and tackles issues within the culinary world. The theme of the fifth edition of Pass The Spatula is SCRAPS, focusing on food waste and expanding on what the word “scrappy” means in the food industry. The Pass the Spatula Podcast highlights the work that Food Education Fund High School students put in to create the magazine, with interviews from chefs and artists featured in the magazine. The podcast series premieres June 27th. Stay tuned!
